Adopting a rescue pitbull advice?

Hello! I'm thinking of adopting a pitbull from a rescue. I don't have any kids, it's just me and my boyfriend. We both love dogs. I have owned a border collie and a jack russel in the past. Does anyone have any experience with rescue pitbulls? What to expect? Things to be aware of?
